Kadant Inc's (KAI) two dominant owners both cut their positions this quarter — and with two firms controlling roughly 91% of the $366.3 million spread across 26 institutional holders, that is most of the story. Wasatch Advisors, the dominant holder at 74.5% of institutional value, reduced its stake by 16.4% in shares (a genuine $53.4 million reduction, from 1,038,548 to 868,696 shares). Riverbridge Partners, the second-largest holder at 16.7%, cut even more sharply in percentage terms — down 22.9% in shares (a real $18.1 million reduction). Together these two moves account for the overwhelming majority of this quarter's selling activity. On a much smaller scale, Linden Thomas Advisory Services added to its position (+690 shares, a genuine $216,819 buy), while Fifth Third Wealth Advisors and Wealth Enhancement Advisory Services opened new, modest stakes.
